Addressing the parliament today, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan commented on allegations that he is hiding his assets in the offshore. He dismissed rumors calling them absurd.
Tigran Sargsyan Said it is not difficult to set up an offshore company on behalf of, let us say, Nikol Pashinyan, without having the permission of that person. He insists that he did not register any offshore company and likewise did not allow anyone to do that on his behalf. According to him, these allegations are a wonderful opportunity to defame someone.
Asked where he was on the day the company was registered, he answered that he was in Prague on an official visit, journalists accompanied him and they know about his every step. He said that he has already got used to such allegations because when he was the head of the Central Bank of Armenia, he was accused of closing all the banks in order to become their owner.
He also dismissed rumors about his ownership of Nairit Chemical Plant though he has no relation to it.
To recall, the media report saying that Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is privy to the misuse of $10mln belonging to one of the local commercial banks are not true, Armenia's Finance Minister David Sargsyan told opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday. He said that the Premier has requested the police to inquire into the report. Pashinyan said that it would be more logical if the Police requested Sargsyan to explain the situation. The Premier's request followed Hetq.am's article "Cyprus Troika: Who Stripped Paylak Hayrapetyan of His Property," saying that Tigran Sargsyan is one of the shareholders of Cyprus-based Wlispera Holdings Limited.
