Yerevan welcomes the resolution on Armenian Genocide adopted by US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday, the statement by the Foreign Ministry says.
Armenia's Foreign Ministry highly appreciates the principled stance of the Committee Chairman Robert Menendez and 12 members of the Committee who supported the resolution. "On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide the adoption of this resolution by the Senate Committee may become an important step on the way to restoration of historical truth and prevention of crimes against humanity," - the statement says.
To recall, yesterday the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved S. Res. 410, affirming the U.S. Record on the Armenian Genocide. Committee Chairman Robert Menendez said that the Armenian Genocide is a fact and one cannot simply pick and choose their genocides.
In this context, Ankara expressed its solicitude to Washington.
