Tbilisi. President of RF Vladimir Putin does not exclude a possibility of the meeting with his Georgian counterpart, if he manifests such a wish, RIA Novosti agency reports.
On Monday, the head of the Russian state came to Sochi media center to meet with representatives of the public council on preparation and conducting the Olympic Games. When he was seeing over the media- center, one of Georgian journalists asked Putin a question whether the Russian President was going to meet with the head of the Georgian state.
"If he wants, why not", Putin said. The Russian President also stated that Russia was glad that the Georgian team came to the Olympic Games.
"And what is more, in my opinion, it is a good sign. This is the case when the Olympic Games promote establishment of relations, event where it seems to be impossible or very difficult", Putin said.
He reminded that Tbilisi-Sochi flights had been resumed on the regular basis. "We have decided that after the Olympic Games we will maintain this practice", the President noted.
According to him, "the Olympic Games help to establish relations with Georgia and I am glad with it, we wish success to Georgian sportsmen. They always reach success at the Summer Olympic Games, especially in combat sport", Putin said.
He reminded that the Georgian team was one of the world leaders in his favorite sport - Judo. "We think that Georgian sportsmen will reach success here too and we wish them good luck", the President of Russia emphasized.
