Rostelecom is launching new technological solutions in Armenia. The solutions have no analogues in the republic, Hayk Faramazyan, Director General of GNC- ALFA (Armenian subsidiary of Rostelecom), said at today's press conference.
He said that the company has launched a number of new services, including mobile television via WiFi/3G/4G for iPads. This allows using Rostelecom's television services without any additional devices. To make use of this service, one should download the company's application at App Store (TVRT.am) for free. The free version has a social package containing 5 Armenian TV channels. Additional channels can be acquired on a paid basis. There are various packages of channels, whose price ranges from $2.99 to $25.99. In the meantime, subscribers of any other operator can make use of the television services via iPads. This service is still available for iPads, but the company is considering possible provision of mobile television for iPhones and Android-based devices. Over 1,000 users have already downloaded the new application, while the commercial launch has not yet taken place, Faramazyan said.
GNC-ALFA is Rostelecom's subsidiary since Feb 2012 when 75% of its shares were bought for $22.5mln, which was equal to 682 million RUR at the exchange rate of the Russian Bank on the date of the transaction.
