ArmInfo. The Union of Armenians of Russia has issued a statement in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church. "Members of the Council of the SAR, representing the three-million Armenian community of Russia, consider the persecution of the Armenian Apostolic Church by the Armenian authorities shameful," the statement says.
The UAR emphasized that such a disgrace has never happened in the history of the Armenian people. The Union emphasized that Pashinyan is trying to undermine the foundations of human nature through his provocative actions against the church, business, and the Diaspora.
"This is all being done to prevent any force representing the Armenian people with its centuries-old spiritual and moral values, pride and honor, from participating in the 2026 elections. We urge the government of Armenia and law enforcement agencies to adhere to the country's Constitution and not exceed their authority. The Armenians have survived as a people and emerged before the world as a nation with great human potential largely thanks to our church and clergy, who replaced the state during the most challenging historical times.
Today, it is time for the Armenian people to stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of the ancient Christian Armenian Apostolic Church, whose children were our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers. We are part of this church, and so will be children, no matter where we live," the UAR emphasized.
