"It is with great pleasure and deep honor that we have gathered here today to celebrate the opening of the new Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in London. This embassy is a beacon of friendship and cooperation between our peoples, and this building is a bridge connecting not only our governments, but also our economies, our cultures and our peoples. Today, by cutting the ribbon, we not only announce the opening of the building, but also lay a new foundation for the deepening of our relations.
We reaffirm our commitment to deepening our political dialogue and our economic and cultural ties. But also, by an interesting coincidence, immediately after this opening ceremony we are preparing to launch a new level of our relations - a strategic dialogue between Armenia and the United Kingdom," Mirzoyan said at the opening ceremony of the new embassy.
Those present also made an entry in the embassy's guest book. Ararat Mirzoyan, in particular, noted: "For approximately three decades, Armenia and the UK have made efforts to develop bilateral relations. I am confident that the new RA embassy will provide an opportunity to deepen the existing foundations in the coming decades, revealing new perspectives in the conditions of modern challenges and threats.
The location of the Armenian Embassy in this building in the very center of London demonstrates our commitment to deepen and give new impetus to Armenian-British relations for the benefit of our two peoples."
Earlier it became known that the government of Armenia approved the acquisition of new embassy building in the central part of London for 17 million 380 800 pounds sterling (over 8 billion drams). In the justification of the government's decision, it is noted that the 5-storey building in London, which will be acquired by ownership, has historical and cultural significance, is located in one of the most expensive and prestigious areas of London and has a reception hall. As the government notes, the new embassy building is a profitable long-term investment for Armenia, given the attractiveness of the London real estate market and the historical and cultural status of the building.
