ArmInfo. Armenia`s authorities are refusing to get involved in any anti-Turkish  processes, believes Americanologist Suren Sargsyan. 

"You may have noticed that Armenia`s authorities will not join any  formal or informal anti-Turkish platforms, transnational alliances or  formats. And it is their refusal that results in their looking for  mediators in rapprochement with Turkey. And this reality cannot be  denied," the expert said.  He points out the "unpalatable" fact that  Armenia`s authorities have ceased to resist or oppose Turkey, whereas  opposition is typical even of friendly, but competing, nations  advancing their interests. 

"It means giving up all the means against Turkey, losing all the  instruments in the negotiations at a certain moment, remaining a  unilateral conceder. Armenia has actually stopped being a headache  for Turkey, but Ankara has not stop viewing Yerevan as its enemy," Mr  Surenyan said. 

The Armenian authorities` changed position on the Armenian Genocide  is a piece of striking evidence for the expert`s statement. It is due  to the Armenian Diaspora`s tremendous efforts, but not by Armenia`s  authorities, that the issue of international recognition of the  Armenian Genocide is being raised again and again. Clear evidence  thereof is also the statement by Armenia   s foreign office on the  International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the  Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.  According to  the statement, Yerevan will continue raising awareness of past  genocides, danger of impunity and new challenges. But it does not  contain a single word about Armenia`s intention to fight for  historical justice and international recognition of the Armenian  Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
