ArmInfo.President of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmanyan, does not have a procedural status in the criminal case, under which his father was previously called to the NSS for clarification. RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced this on October 21.
<A criminal case was opened on a specific fact, and to clarify all the circumstances, certain people are invited to the National Security Service. We will follow the course of this case from a legal point of view>, Avinyan noted.
Answering a question regarding whether this situation has a political context, the Deputy Prime Minister called for a return to reality and recall the processes surrounding the election of the President of the Constitutional Court. <I would not want every process that is in the field of law enforcement to be considered as political persecution. I get the impression that we forget what happened in the past. I am sure that at the moment the Constitutional Court has a problem of legitimacy, which should be resolved, because of it the Constitutional Court cannot act in the full range of its powers>, he stressed, pointing out the need to find appropriate solutions.
To recall, the father of Hrayr Tovmasyan gave explanations on the fact of obvious abuses and outstanding work in 2012-2014 during construction work on the restoration of the building on Zaqyan Street in the amount of 855 million drams, as well as repair work in the Abovyan Penitentiary Institution and near one of the capital's schools in the amount of 15 million drams.
