ArmInfo. Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor ) discovered a deterioration in the quality of Georgian alcohol supplied to Russia from 2014 to 2018. The corresponding message is posted on the site office.
According to the service, during this period the amount of Georgian alcohol, which did not meet the requirements, increased almost three times - up to 203 thousand liters. It is noted that a consignment of eight Georgian producers' wines was banned for importation into Russia. Because of this, Rospotrebnadzor has strengthened control over the quality and safety of Georgian alcohol. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision of the department is not connected with the aggravation of Russian-Georgian relations. He also added that "there is no political conflict here," the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.
According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Georgia takes 3-4 places among the largest suppliers of wine. The Georgian Ministry of Agriculture's National Wine Agency calculated that Russia accounts for almost half of the country's alcohol exports.
To recall, President Vladimir Putin has banned Russian airlines from flying on July 8, after which the Ministry of Transport announced the same ban on Georgian air carriers. Restrictions are associated with thousands of protests in Tbilisi, which began on June 20 after a speech in the parliament by State Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov. Then he took the place of the Speaker of Parliament and spoke in Russian.
