ArmInfo. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev during a meeting with State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas in Astana expressed him support as a candidate for the post of CSTO Secretary General, the press service of the Kazakh leader said on Thursday.
"In St. Petersburg, the heads of state decided to support your candidacy proposed by Alexander Lukashenko. You have already started meeting with the leaders of the organization's member countries. Were already in Bishkek. As is known, the Kyrgyz Republic now chairs the CSTO. I am sure that your meetings were good, "said the president of Kazakhstan. Lukashenko told who could be the next CSTO Secretary General Nazarbayev believes that Zas has all the necessary skills and knowledge to work in this position. "You are military and have the appropriate education. We worked in the General Staff, the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus. You are familiar with the work of the CSTO, participated in various meetings and conferences. We will support you," the press service quoted Nazarbayev as saying. To note, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, made a similar statement after the summit in St. Petersburg, saying that the issue of the CSTO Secretary General has been practically resolved.
