ArmInfo. Armenia has developed a national report, based on the 1325th resolution of the UN Security Council on Women, Peace and Security. Public discussions on the report took place the day before, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
According to the source, in the discussions organized by the RA MFA, in addition to the members of the interdepartmental commission that drafted the document, representatives of about 70 public organizations also took part. Opening the event, the head of the department of international organizations of the RA MFA, the chairman of the interdepartmental commission Vahram Kajoian noted that the resolution from the institutional point of view concerns the influence of armed conflicts on women, prevention and resolution of armed conflicts and the involvement of women in the peace process. The resolution deals with conflict prevention and resolution, peaceful settlement negotiations, building peace and other missions, as well as issues related to the role of women in the post-conflict period.
Karine Sudjyan, the head of the human rights and humanitarian affairs department of the international organizations department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, presented the work carried out by the interdepartmental commission, touched upon the main directions of resolution 1325 - prevention, protection, relief and recovery. The participants of the discussions noted that the purpose of this kind of discussion is the detailed presentation of the draft to representatives of the public and international organizations and their involvement in the process of processing the submitted document.
