


Military Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will develop its military component taking into account the politico- military situation in Caucasus, including the recent events in the Caucasus regions, Yuri Khachaturov, Chief of the Armenian Armed Forces General staff, stated on April 15 at the result of the Council's session.
Khachaturov mentioned that the counterparts in CSTO were informed about the situation developed in the early April along the line of contact of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops. "We agreed on the issue of improving CSTO Joint Staff's activities, specified its tasks, functions, structure and the staff. Taking into account politico-military situation including the events in the Caucasus region we set directions of our further work on development of CSTO military component" TASS quotes Khachaturov as saying.
According to him, it was mentioned at the session that the threats to military security in the CSTO space have integrated nature. So there is a necessity of supporting and improving the mechanisms for ensuring security and stability in the regions of collective security, integration processes as well as implementation of detailed policy of CSTO member countries on promoting and defending collective and own national interests", he stated.
