ArmInfo. Armenia has become the cradle of religious unfreedom. International lawyer Robert Amsterdam writes about this on social media.
And now, according to him, a "Prayer Breakfast" is taking place in Yerevan right now. Influential American religious freedom representatives, who have arrived in Armenia, are already meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, under whose rule the Catholicos of All Armenians is being persecuted, high-ranking clergy are being tried, and Pashinyan himself is openly promoting the idea of removing the Catholicos and changing the leadership of the Church. "Prayer Breakfasts" are cynically used as a tool of American foreign policy to support autocrats like Pashinyan, who pretend to be defenders of religious freedom while illegally attempting to subjugate the Church, turning it into yet another state structure. "We must restore faith in these 'Prayer Breakfasts' and protect the cradle of Christianity from a politician who is using all levels of government as a tool to turn Armenia into a desolate and depopulated country in the image and likeness of its neighbor," wrote Robert Amsterdam.
It should be noted that the second 'Prayer Breakfast' opened in Yerevan on October 2 and will run until October 3. The event is modeled after the United States, where Christian Prayer Breakfasts are regularly held. Bishop Daniel Findikian is representing the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, and another delegate, Bishop Mesrop Sargsyan, represents the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia. A group of officials from the United States is also participating in the 'Prayer Breakfast.'
