Following Cannes, TIFF honors world cinema classic Artavazd Peleshyan

ArmInfo.  Following Cannes, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) honors the outstanding Armenian director Artavazd Peleshyan. From September 10th to 20th,  the film festival will present a special program, "The Peleshyan  Project," featuring new digital restorations of classic films by the  legendary Armenian documentary director ("Land of the People" (1966),  "The Beginning" (1967), "We" (1969), "The Seasons" (1975), and "The  End" (1992).

These events are designed to introduce a wider audience to  Peleshyan's unique "remote editing" method, which is studied in most  film schools worldwide.

As a reminder, Artavazd Peleshyan is an Armenian film director of  feature and documentary films. He is a classic of world cinema, whose  name stands alongside Dziga Vertov and Sergei Eisenstein. Among  Peleshyan's admirers are Francis Ford Coppola and Jean-Luc Godard.  His films have been shown at major cultural venues from New York's  MoMA to festivals in Berlin and Venice.
