The territorial claims of Baku to Iran are unfounded, as Azerbaijan was created in 1918, Ambassador of Iran to Armenia, Mohammad Reisi, said at today's press-conference in Yerevan.
"Azerbaijan has territorial claims to Armenia and other countries as well. However, to have claims, they should present grounds for that", - the ambassador said. He also added that Iran has good relations both with Armenia and Azerbaijan.
When commenting on closing of the check point at the Iranian-Azerbaijani border, he said that it was closed because of the last incident at the Iranian-Azerbaijani border. "Incidents often happen at the border and the last incident at the Iranian -Azerbajani border was not a special one", - he said. As for Baku's blaming Iran for availability of Iranian spies in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said that Iran does not direct spies to any country.
To recall, an armed incident happened at the Iranian -Azerbaijani border on 1 December. As a result, one Azerbaijani frontier guard was killed and two - wounded.
