Tbilisi. Georgia and Lithuania will conduct joint military exercises - Georgian Premier's press office reported following Premier Gharibashvili's meeting with Juozas Olekas, Lithuanian National Defence Minister.
The exercises will be conducted within the NATO-Georgia cooperation package.
The sides discussed the prospects for multilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of cooperation in defence and military education spheres.
PM Gharibashvili thanked Juozas Olekas for friendship and partnership between Lithuania and Georgia. He noted that Lithuania firmly supported Georgia's foreign policy priorities and helped to fulfill them.
"In addition, Lithuania supported political and economic stability in Georgia and advocated for strengthening democratic institutions and state system," - Premier Gharibashvili said.
As part of the visit, Juozas Olekas has already met with his Georgian colleague, Irakli Alasania and Foreign Minister, Maia Pankilidze.
Meetings with Georgian President, Giorgi Margvelashvili and Georgian Parliament Chairman, David Usupashvili, are scheduled for Tuesday, October 7.
A package of measures, enhancing Georgia's aspiration for membership in the alliance, has been approved in course of the NATO Summit in Wales, September 4-5.
