The European Union will wait for the results of the inquiry into the Dec 2 events in Yerevan, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Traian Hristea told journalists on Tuesday.
He said that by permitting the protest action the Armenian authorities displayed respect for the freedom of speech. Hristea hopes that everything will be done according to the law.
Actions of protest against the Russian President's visit to Armenia started early in the morning on Dec 2. Activists were holding banners "Serzhik's father has arrived!" and "No Customs Colonization!" in the city. Earlier today, activists hanged a colorful bathrobe and a boot over the underground passage in Khanjyan Street. The police and the activists clashed in Amiryan Street, with about 110 people detained as a result.
