Бакур Карапетян: Мир должен знать о трагических событиях в Сумгаите

Мир должен
знать о трагических событиях в Сумгаите, Баку, Кировабаде, Мараге, которые
являются продолжением осуществленного Турцией Геноцида армян 1915- 1923 г.г. Об
этом  26 февраля на пресс-конференции в
Ереван заявил председатель благотворительного фонда "Шуши" Бакур
Карапетян.


По его словам, с приближением 100-летней
годовщины Геноцида армян азербайджано- турецкая пропагандистская машина
начинает активизироваться по поводу событий в поселке Ходжалу. "Они
используют дипломатические методы, призывают признать события в Ходжалу
"геноцидом", пользуясь даже спортивными, культурными мероприятиями и
таким образом пытаясь затмить погромы армянского населения в Сумгаите, Баку,
Кировабаде и Мараге", - отметил Карапетян, подчеркнув, что армянская
сторона недостаточно говорит об этих трагических событиях. Дипломатический
корпус Армении, как он заметил, действует очень пассивно, и очень плохо
проводится пропагандистская работа за рубежом. Коснувшись событий в Ходжалу,
Бакур Карапетян подчеркнул, что Азербайджан совершает двойное преступление,
искажая реальные факты и сваливая всю вину на армянскую сторону.


Представив присутствующим книгу
"Сумгаитский дневник, 27 марта - 5 апреля, 1988", Бакур Карапетян
подчеркнул, что она переводится на английский язык при финансовом содействии
арцахского спонсора Сержа Аряна.



Отметим, что погромы армянского населения,
произошедшие в азербайджанском городе Сумгаит с вечера 26 по 29 февраля 1988 г.
стали первым массовым взрывом этнического насилия в новейшей советской
истории.  Сумгаитские погромы
продолжались три дня и сопровождались массовым насилием, грабежами и
убийствами, что привело к первым потокам беженцев из Азербайджана в Нагорный
Карабах и Армению. В результате трехдневных погромов десятки человек были
ранены и 53 - убиты, причем часть их была замучена до смерти, а трупы их были
сожжены. 29 февраля в Сумгаит, наконец, вошла советская армия, которая, однако,
почти ничего не предприняла для защиты армянского населения. Своевременного
расследования обстоятельств погромов, установления и наказания виновных не было
проведено.
