Discrepancies emerge in parliamentary opposition, as they decide to launch a sit-down strike in the Liberty Square, a local Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper writes, referring to sources close to Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP).
PAP Leader Gagik Tsarukyan is said to be the key opponent to the sit-down strike, according to the paper. The parliamentary opposition parties Armenian National Congress (ANC), Heritage, People's Party of Armenia urge a sit-down strike. Yet before 24 October rally, ANC tried to persuade Tsarukyan that such protest is a necessity. However, Tsarukyan categorically disagreed with the other opposition leaders. "Nevertheless, in ANC they still hope to persuade Tsarukyan to launch the strike at least after the next rally," the paper writes.
At the latest opposition rally, it was Raffi Hovannsian, Leader of Heritage Party that came out for such protest action. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan in his speech sharply stated: "No sit-down strike!"
