Tbilisi. The Georgian authorities are attentive to partner countries' position regarding current processes in Georgia, President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili stated, while commenting concern of the U.S. Senators over resonance court trials in Georgia.
Last Thursday the Georgian magazine Tabula published a letter to Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Ghribashvili from the U.S. Senators John McCain, Jeanne Shaheen, Jim Risch and Marco Rubio, in which the Senators expressed concern over the last events in Georgia. The Administration of the Government received letter on August 1, but it did not publish it. . "We pay much attention to all positions, expressed by our partners. It is of great importance from the points of view of Georgia's democracy and the international community's support. Our whole political spectrum is a guarantor of absence political persecution in Georgia", Margvelashvili stressed.
In connection with this the head of the state called on all former state officials, brought to responsibility, to cooperate with the investigation.
"I urge political leaders to cooperate with the investigation. This is of importance to confirm by this open process, which will not be "a one-way street" case, but an opened dialogue, with participation of all sides, that Georgia is a democratic country", the President stressed.
Being in Tbilisi in the framework of the Ambassadorial, Georgian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, Archil Gegeshidze, confirmed that the U.S. Senators really had sent a letter with such content to the Georgian premier.
"It turned out that such letter to the premier had been received. The letter of a personal character, not public, though, it is not confidential. I do not think that this will influence Georgia-USA relations", Gegeshidze told journalists.
