ArmInfo. A group of public organizations and residents of the city of Jermuk opposed the  possible development of the Amulsar gold mine.

ArmInfo. More than 50% of the respondents in Armenia are not against the development of the Amulsar  gold mine. This is evidenced by the "Mountain of Shame" survey data of the MPG consulting company.

ArmInfo. A number of public organizations in Armenia opposed the development of the Amulsar gold  mine. In their statement, received by ArmInfo, representatives of  public organizations considered the tripartite memorandum of  understanding signed on February 22 between the government of the  Republic of Armenia, the Eurasian Development Bank and Lydian Armenia  CJSC as illegal, short-sighted, irresponsible, adventurous and  dangerous.

ArmInfo. I am sure that all new technological possibilities will be used for the safe operation of the mine, which will meet high international standards. Minister  of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan stated  during a briefing on  February 23, answering a question regarding the restart of the  Amulsar project.

ArmInfo. Ambassador Tracy visited the Lydian mine project site in Amulsar on April 20. The Ambassador encouraged an expeditious and transparent resolution of  outstanding disputes around the project. 

ArmInfo.The most important thing in the Amulsar issue is the protection of the interests of the communities close to the field. A similar opinion was expressed to  the residents of the Jermuk community by the acting Prime Minister  Nikol Pashinyan during his election campaign.

ArmInfo. The situation around Amulsar is a reflection and continuation of the process of deligitimation of state institutions in Armenia. Political scientist  Stepan Danielyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.

ArmInfo.MPs from the Bright Armenia faction Ani Samsonyan and Gevorg Gorgisyan issued a warning to Lydian Armenia.

ArmInfo. On the night of September 7, employees of the new security organization Lydian Armenia attacked the defenders of Amulsar and beat them. Ani Samsonyan, a member of the Enlightened Armenia parliamentary faction,  wrote about this on her Facebook page.

ArmInfo. Caution on the part of the Armenian government in the issue of making a decision on the Amulsar project is due to the lack of a legal framework for the  mining sector. Chief of Stuff of the Government Office of Armenia  Eduard Aghajanyan, stated this during a conversation with journalists  on September 3.

ArmInfo. The license of the notorious security organization Lydian Armenia - "Special Security Service" LLC - has been suspended. According to the Armenian  Ecological Front, the corresponding decision was made on August 28,  based on the conclusion of the Licensing Commission operating in the  RA Police.

ArmInfo.. On August 20 in the evening, a protest action of green activists started in front of the RA Government against the development of the Amulsar mine. Earlier, protesters marched along the central streets of Yerevan; residents of  the city of Jermuk, who moved towards the capital this afternoon,  also joined them.

ArmInfo.The Armenian Environmental Front (AEF) issued a statement in connection with the situation around the Amulsar field.

ArmInfo.In protest against the development of the Amulsar field, the residents of Jermuk will move by road to Yerevan. The event is scheduled for August 20; activists further plan to gather at the building of the State Philharmonic.

ArmInfo.The Lydian Armenia Company issued another statement in which it pointed out the absurdity of the assertions that there is a uranium hazard at the  Amulsar mine.

ArmInfo.At the government level, attempts are being made to reduce the importance of the Amulsar issue to the public as much as possible, and to limit the dissemination of information regarding the problem. Political  scientist Andrias Ghukasyan stated this at a press conference on  August 14.
