Competitive environment is improving in Armenia. The remark came from Artak Shaboyan, Head of the State Committee for Protection of Economic Competition, Thursday, in response to the prime minister's request to comment on The Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014 published by the World Economic Forum on September 4. Armenia moved up 3 positions to the 79th position out of 148 countries by the GCI -Global Competitiveness Index.
Shaboyan said that rating is prepared on the basis of polls. This year, 200 businessmen were polled. He said that Armenia moved up 28 points by the indicator of local competitiveness and took a leadership position by that indicator among the CIS member-states. Armenia moved 19 points by indicator of effectiveness of anti-monopoly policy and stays ahead of Georgia by 41 points, Ukraine - by 40 points and Azerbaijan by 32 points. Armenia is ahead of even Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia by this indicator.
