Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited the UWC Dilijan College, which opened in October 2014. The press service of the Armenian Government reports that Abrahamyan familiarized himself with the infrastructures and the upcoming programs of the UWC Dilijan College.
A total of 96 students from 50 countries have been admitted to the UWC Dilijan College. In 2023 the number of the students and teachers at UWC Dilijan will increase to 650 and 60, respectively. The Prime Minister talked to the students, who shared their impressions with him. "I am glad to see that you have come to Armenia from different countries to receive education at this beautiful school", he said. Abrahamyan added that he has visited the school for several times and he knows that the highly skilled teachers working there will do everything possible to give background knowledge to the students.
90% of gifted children will study at UWC Dilijan free of charge. Their tuition fee will be covered by the philanthropists. Armenian children make up 10-12% of the total number of the students, and those from Diaspora - 30%. The IB Diploma is taught at all UWC schools and colleges, including UWC Dilijan College. The lessons are delivered in English. To recall, in July 2014 the Prime Minister paid a visit to the UWC Dilijan College. The total cost of the project is 190 mln USD. The Government has provided customs and tax privileges for construction of UWC Dilijan. UWC Dilijan is the joint project of philanthropists Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend and their partners. UWC Dilijan became the first college in the post-Soviet area to join the UWC network.
