New prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan's consultations with the opposition parties and promises to revise the pension reform is nothing but populism, Aram Karapetyan, Leader of New Times opposition party told reporters, Monday.
According to Karapetyan, to survive, the country's political and economic system needs deep reforms, and liquidation of oligarchy, first and foremost. Meanwhile, he said, Hovik Abrahamyan is a typical representative of that very oligarchy. It is naive thinking that he will bite the hand that feeds him.
"Armenia needs a new political course, new industrial development. Meanwhile, Serzh Sargsyan and Hovik Abrahamyan are just engaged in redistribution of the property. To somehow conceal that process the new prime minister tries his best to show that he allegedly differs from his predecessor Tigran Sargsyan," Karapetyan said.
If nothing is done to change the situation, Armenia's economy will even more deteriorate, as it is closely connected with Russia's economy, which, in turn, faces the West's sanctions, Karapetyan said for conclusion.
