The European Union will continue cooperating with Armenia after the Vilnius summit, Head of European Union Delegation to Armenia Traian Hristea said during "From Warsaw to Vilnius: At the Crossroads - Armenia and Georgia" conference in Yerevan on Friday.
Hristea said that in Vilnius the EU will continue the Eastern Partnership process started in Warsaw and the Prague. There the EU will sign association agreements with Georgia and Moldova.
As regards Armenia, with whom the EU already has a readmission agreement, Hristea said that the EU will continue cooperating with the country with due regard for new realities.
He said that the EU has taken into account Armenia's wish to join the Customs Union even though previously the country had plans to initial an association agreement with the EU. Hristea said that the EU respects Armenia's sovereign right to choose. He said that priority here must be given to the opinion of Armenian society. So, they in Brussels will try to find common grounds that will serve the Armenians' interests.
