Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan has decreed suspending his decision on the public transport fare rise, says the Municipality's press release. On July 25 the mayor held a consultation with officials in the transport field. Before setting up a relevant commission and providing privileges to some social groups of population, the mayor decreed suspending the decision he had made earlier.
To note, earlier ArmInfo reported with reference to its own sources in the Municipality that during the consultation a decision was taken to return to the former 100 AMD fare.
According to the previous decision of the mayor, on July 20 the public transport fare in Yerevan rose from 100 AMD to 150 AMD for microbuses and buses. This caused wide-scale actions of protest.
