Tbilisi. While commenting information on
resignation of Gennadi Onischenko from the post of Rospotrebnadzor's
chief, Georgian Prime Minister's
Special Representative for normalization of relations with RF Zurab Abashidze
stated that he hoped for continuation of
the process of trade ties restoration between two countries and its completion by the end of the year.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Vice-Premier of RF
Olga Golodets stated that head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennadi Onischenko
resigned from his post as a term of his
powers expired. His deputy Anna Popova will be appointed a new head of the
department.
"Embargo on trade with Georgia was
imposed under Gannadi Onischenko and restoration of those relations began under
his power. We hope that a process of trade relations restoration will be led to
the logic end and by the end of the year we will restore full volume of
Georgian export to the Russian market", Abashidze stated on Tuesday.
After seven year break, export of Georgian
mineral water Borjomi to Russia was resumed in spring of the current year, in
June - export of brandy and wine was resumed. Import of Georgian wines, mineral
water and agricultural products to Russia was banned in spring 2006 on the
background of Georgian-Russian relations aggravation. Low quality of products
was named to be the official reason of the ban.
