Tbilisi. A document lifting embargo on supplies of Georgian
agriculture products to Russia was signed by the Georgian delegation and the
Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary
Surveillance) administration as part of the Georgian delegation's second visit
to Moscow - local media reported with reference to the spokesperson for the
National Food Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgian delegation, led by Zurab
Chekurashvili, Head of the National Food Agency, held talks with the
Rosselkhoznadzor in Moscow, on June, 18. This is the second visit of the
Georgian delegation to Russia. The talks were launched early in April this
year. Under the agreement, each product designed for export to the RF would be
granted a corresponding phytosanitary or veterinary certificate.
"This is not the first visit of the
Georgian delegation to Moscow. It may be said that the reached agreement is a
result of those visits," the National Food Agency spokesperson was quoted
as saying.
Giga Kurdovanidze, the Head of the
National Food Agency PR Department, told RIA Novosti earlier, the supplies
would be launched in summer 2013 and citruses, honey, walnut, fruit and vegetables
would be exported first.
