Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has nothing to reply to deputies' questions about the decision on Armenia's joining the Customs Union, a member of the parliament from the opposition Armenian National Congress, Nikol Pashinyan, told journalists today.
"As the meeting was a closed-door one, I cannot imagine the details of the discussion. At the same time I should say that Nalbandian did not reply at any question and we have not got any information content. The minister was speaking about everything but not the direct core of the problem", - Pashinyan said.
He said that nothing confidential was discussed over the closed-door meeting and there was no reason to hold the meeting in such a format. Asked by ArmInfo correspondent if the meeting should be held in the closed-door regime, Pashinyan replied that the community may and must be aware of the processes and the minister is obliged to give answers to all the problems which the community worry about.
To note, the closed-door meeting was initiated by the parliament.
To recall, on September 3 in Moscow, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan confirmed Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and the process of the formation of the Eurasian Union. Vladimir Putin supported Sargsyan's decision and promised to contribute to Yerevan's accession to the Customs Union in every possible way. Afterwards, the two leaders signed joint statements. The Customs Union has been created within the Eurasian economic space for trade and economic integration of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
