"Killing of civilians by gunfire on the line of contact is a great tragedy," U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told journalists, APA reports.
"Obviously, we feel very strongly that all incidents along the line of contact, all casualties along the line of contact are tragic and emphasize why this conflict has to be resolved hopefully as soon as possible," he said.
The ambassador also spoke about the newly-appointed US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick's visit to the region: "We are looking forward very much to the visit of ambassador Warlick who is now new Minsk Group co chair. He will be coming to South Caucasus very soon. I know ambassador Warlick very well, he is skilled diplomat with a lot of experience. This will be his full time job as a Minsk Group co chair. He is a creative person and I am sure he will bring new ideas to the process."
