The premier noted regretfully that there
were still many unsettled conflicts in Eastern Europe.
"You know that our country faces this
pressing problem too. I want to express gratitude to western partners. The European Union and the USA, OSCE are
Co-Chairmen of Geneva talks, observers
(EUMM) have been sent to Georgia. We hope the EU will be even more involved in
this process", Ivanishvili stated at the opening of the 10th international
conference Georgia's European Way.
The head of the Georgian government noted
the positive dynamics in development of Russian-Georgian relations.
"We have imposed a new component into
our foreign policy and expressed readiness to launch a dialogue with Russia. My
Special Representative to RF was appointed that made possible to make concrete
pragmatic steps in the sphere of trade, economic and cultural ties. But this
does not mean that we will be able to settle the conflict with Russia in the
bilateral format. I'd like to emphasize that Geneva talks are an important
format for a dialogue on the conflict with RF, we will further adhere to this
process", Ivanishvili stressed.
European Commissioner for Enlargement and
Neighborhood Policy Stephan Fule attended
the conference.
