In order to reduce the tension on the Armenian-Azeri border, it is necessary to build confidence, to remove the snipers and to carry out an international inquiry into incidents happening on the border, Armenia's Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told the Armenian MPs on Wednesday.
He said that Armenia has repeatedly asked the mediators to investigate the incidents but each time they said that they had no money.
"We even said that if the investigation proves our guilt, we are ready to bear the blame," Ohanyan said.
He said that Armenia has sufficiently strong positions to be able to rebuff Azerbaijan's sabotage attacks. "We have special tactics and strategy for every possible situation on the border and we will cut short any infringements," Ohanyan said.
Regarding the last incidents near Yersakh, Ohanyan said that Armenia does not want any new trouble spots to appear but is ready to take relevant actions – and even to counterattack - whenever the enemy tries to break the cease-fire regime.
