Over a year of its activities in the Armenian market, Rostelecom has invested about 15 mln USD via its subsidiary GNC-Alfa CJSC, Hayk Faramazyan, Director General of GNC-Alfa, said at today's press conference.
He said that the funds have been invested since Dec 2012 when Rostelecom launched its services. In 2013 the company laid the groundwork for development of the network and the major part of the funds was therefore invested in the network and system equipment, expansion of the network, opening of sales and services offices, acquisition and installation of automated systems of management and calculations, Faramazyan said.
He recalled that a year ago the company launched its services in Abovyan, Gyumri and Ashtarak. Today it provides services in 16 towns and 6 communities of Yerevan. 16 sales and service offices were opened, with 6 of them in Yerevan. The company launched IP television in September 2013. The number of subscribers is regularly growing and will shortly reach 10,000.
By preliminary estimations, in 2014 investments will amount to 10 mln USD, Faramazyan said. The company is working at enhancement of the quality of services. In 2014 it is going to invest in human resources, particularly, in personnel training. The company is also going to upgrade its technical solutions and launch new solutions, he said.
GNC-ALFA is Rostelecom's subsidiary since Feb 2012 when 75% of its shares were bought for $22.5mln, which was equal to 682 million RUR on the exchange rate of the Russian Bank on the date of the transaction.
