A member of the Public Council Committee for Air Communication Izabella Muradyan ran away from journalists as soon as they began asking her questions in a press conference, Friday.
Muradyan met with journalists to share the results of the country's aviation for 2013. She slummed the government for inactivity and for pursing personal benefits, which resulted in bankruptcy of the national air carrier, Armavia Company in 2013. She blamed the authorities also for an intention to liquidate the old passenger terminal of Zvartsnots Airport.
"The Government of Armenia rejected the Public Council's recommendations to preserve the national air carrier and the building of the oil passenger terminal," she said. Muradyan was so affected with the given facts that left the press conference leaving journalists astonished.
According to Muradyan, there are 54 government aircrafts in Georgia, and 28 ones in Azerbaijan, while Armenia has no government aircrafts. She believes that a national air carrier will help the country fulfill its strategic plans. To be fair, Armavia was a private company and provided neither accurate flights nor high-quality service. The company lacked also financial discipline, accumulating big debts, including to the government and the staff. Some Armavia employees found job at Ari Armenia Company that is successfully operating in the market and has recently significantly reduced air ticket prices.
