The Armenian Parliament approved second and final reading of draft amendments to the law on peaceful uses of nuclear energy, Monday.
Chairman of the State Committee on Nuclear Safety Regulation of Armenia Ashot Martirosyan said that the amendments are aimed at preventing nuclear terrorism and illegal uses of nuclear materials.
Drafted with the help of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the amendments specify 25 nuclear materials that should be controlled on a closer basis, such as highly enriched and low enriched uranium, radioactive isotopes, etc.
