OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen have to put an end to the Azerbaijani "diplomacy of blackmail". Such a measure is stemming from the logic of the process backed by the meeting of the presidents on Vienna, Director of the Oriental Studies Institute under Armenian National Academy of Science, Dr. Ruben Safrastyan, told journalists today.
According to the results of Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting on 19 November in Vienna, the two presidents agreed to intensify the negotiation process and expressed readiness to meet once again within the coming months. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan have been charged to organize a working meeting with participation of the OSCE MG co-chairs at the OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Kyev in December. After their previous meeting in Sochi, the two presidents had not
met for two years. The mediator's efforts to organize a meeting in Saltsburg in June failed.
"The beginning of the new round of talks marked by Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting is a political necessity. In this context, we can just welcome the meeting in Vienna. However, Azerbaijan continues its "diplomacy of blackmail", simultaneously going to the talks and worsening the situation at the line of contact by firing and sabotage actions. In such a way, Baku is trying to affect the negotiating process, Armenia and the intermediaries, but this is inadmissible. I hope very much that the logic will prevail in this matter, according to which any similar actions do not promote progress of the negotiating process", - Safrastyan said.
