We need Iran's assistance for inclusion of Yerevan's Blue Mosque in UNESCO's Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Armenia's Culture Minister, Hasmik Pogosyan, said during the meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Mohhamad Reisi.
The ambassador introduced the new culture adviser of the Embassy, Mejid Meshki, to the minister. For his part, the adviser said that high cooperation level between Armenia and Iran may be a good sample to other countries of the region. Ambassador Reisi offered the minister to hold a week of the Armenian culture in Iran.
To note, the Blue Mosque was built in 1766. For many decades it served as a museum of Yerevan history. Initiated and financed by Iran, in 1993-96 the mosque was repaired. At present, it is one of the key cultural centres of the Muslims living in Armenia.
