Tbilisi. A process of technical initialing of the EU-Georgia Associated Agreement, which
was conducted in the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry on Thursday, November 28,
finished, the official of the Georgian Foreign Ministry's press-service
reported.
The EU-Georgian Associated Agreement is
being initialed in the framework of the
Eastern Partnership Summit, which is held in Vilnius on November 28-29.
First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia David Zalkaliani signed a part of
the document, which concerned the association with EU and Minister of Economy
and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze signed the part, which concerned free trade.
The document was signed from the EU by
head of Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director of Europe and Central Asia
Department, EEAS and Philippe Cuisson, Deputy Head of Unit, Trade relations
with Europe (non-EU) and Central Asia, Directorate General for Trade.
Some hours were required to certify over
1000 pages of the document.
The official initialing ceremony will be
held on November 29, Foreign Minister of Georgia Maia Panjikidze will sign
symbolically the document.
The Georgian side expect the agreement
will be signed finally in September 2014.
Each day before and after signing of the
agreement is to be used by Georgia for
complete political association and stage by stage economic integration to the
European family", Deputy Foreign
Minister David Zalkaliani stated to journalists.
