The Embassy will also continue to support and encourage the development of Armenia's relations with the EU, UK Ambassador Jonathan Aves says in a statement issued after assuming his position as a UK Ambassador to Armenia and rotating with his wife Kathy Leach.
Recalling that he will occupy the seat until January, Ambassador Aves said there is a packed agenda in prospect.
"The Embassy will continue to support the British Government's push for a tough international response to the Syrian regime's use of chemical weapons against its own people. At the same time, Britain will continue to remind all sides of the need to respect the rights and security of the minority communities in Syria, including the Armenian community.
The Embassy will also continue to support and encourage the development of Armenia's relations with the EU. The clear message that I get from the Armenians that I meet from all walks of life is that they consider themselves part of the wider European family. The next four months with also demonstrate the strengthening of Britain's bilateral relations with Armenia starting with the inauguration of the new heating system in the Byron School in Gyumri this Friday and the visit by a delegation of MPs next week," reads the statement posted by Ambassador on Facebook.
