Tbilisi. In the
framework f the official visit to the USA, First Deputy Defence Minister of
Georgia Levan Dolidze and Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of Armed Forces of the
country, Colonel Vladimir Chachibaya met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary
of State for Europe and Eurasia Eric Rubin and discussed security issues with
him, the defence department's press- service reports on Thursday, April 18.
A delegation of the Georgian Defence Ministry
familiarized the representatives of the
U.S. Department of State with current
reforms in the defence department of the
country. The sides discussed perspectives of Georgia's integration to NATO,
Georgian military contingent participation in ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
After the meeting Dolidze stated that they
had discussed in details with Eric Rubin deepening of bilateral cooperation in
the security sphere, importance of the USA's support to Georgia in its
integration to NATO and concrete steps in that trend.
The Georgian Defence Ministry's delegation
went to the USA on the working visit on Monday.
In the framework of the visit meetings in the U.S. Department of
Defence, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. Senate are planned. The
visit will finish on April 18.
