Armenia has started the Customs Union
joining procedure. At its today's session the government of Armenia adopted a
decision to carry out works for joining the Customs Union.
As Deputy Economy Minister Karine Minasyan told
journalists after the session, the decision of the government supposes setting
up of seven working groups.
The first group for the legal issues will discuss
general points of the agreement on joining the CU. The second group will
discuss the problems of the tariff regulation. The third group - the problems
of the non-tariff regulation, that is to say, technical barriers which must be
removed. The forth group will discuss technical settlement including quality
problems. Minasyan said that at present 32 technical rules have been
functioning in the Customs Union, and more than 32 - in Armenia. The fifth
group will discuss the customs and tax problems, the sixth - the problems of
the Customs Union's infrastructures, and the seventh group - the anti-damping
and anti-monopoly problems.
Minasyan could not answer when Armenia will end all
the necessary talks and become a fully-fledged member of the Customs
Union. "Everything depends on
us", - she said and added that Armenia can join the CU and at the same
time develop the European integration.
To recall, on 3 September 2013, President of Armenia
Serzh Sargsyan said over the meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin
about Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union.
