An action of protest against Armenia's membership in the Customs Union is being held in front of the office of the Republican Party of Armenia, while the party's Executive Committee is having a meeting, reports ArmInfo's correspondent.
A similar action was held by a group of Facebook activists in front of the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, with 9 protesters detained as a result.
Armenia was expected to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union at the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. However, on Sept 3 in Moscow, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan confirmed Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and the process of the formation of the Eurasian Union. Russian President Vladimir Putin supported Sargsyan's decision and promised to contribute to Yerevan's accession to the Customs Union in every possible way.-0-
