Expert: UNESCO is not the organization to decide if lavash is an Armenian bread or not

 UNESCO is not the organization to decide if lavash is an Armenian bread or not, chairman of the public organization "For development and preserving of traditions of Armenian cookery", Sedrak Mamulyan, told Arminfo correspondent.  

"UNESCO is a rather nimble organization, and I think it is senseless to place our national values on such an "auction", - he said. He also negatively treated the fact that our neighboring states have started disputing on the national origin of lavash. To recall, the Iranian party voiced for several times that lavash is an ancient type of the Iranian bread. The expert said that it is enough to compare the way of lavash baking, so that to understand senselessness of the dispute. 

Armenia's Culture Minister Hasmik Pogosyan said earlier that in 2014 the Armenian bread lavash will be involved in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

The Armenian national epos "David Sasuntsi", the art of khachkhar (cross stone) and the music of duduk were also involved in the UNESCO list.
