The shift in Russia's foreign policy from the West to the East is a pledge of the West's defeat, Mateusz Piskorski, Director of the European Center of Geopolitical Analysis, told ArmInfo on Monday.
He said that Russia is not isolated as its new agreements in Asia can make it an active player in that region: the agreement with Vietnam, the active efforts to get closer with China, Iran and even Japan – all this, according to Piskorski, is the result of the West's attitude towards Russia.
"After all, the eastern nations the Russians are presently negotiating with have much bigger GDPs and buying capacities than any of their former Western partners has ever had," Piskorski said.
He said that the United States has almost no trade-economic relations with Russia, so, its sanctions can hardly cause any harm to the Russians. In order to get free from the US banking system, Russia may follow China's example and create own payment systems.
So, according to Piskorski, the only active force in the current sanction war against Russia is the EU but this activity may have very bad consequences for the latter.
