The authorities think that Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is a serious obstacle in the matter of making constitutional reforms. Therefore, they are going to impose political pressure upon this party and blackmail it, the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, said in an interview with Ilur.am.
He said that with a help of the Constitutional reforms Serzh Sargsyan has been trying to make his authoritarian regime everlasting. "Although all the political forces have come forward against the given reform, Sargsyan thinks that the PAP is the only obstacle in this matter. And if earlier the policy of "carrot" was used regarding this party, at present, as far as we know, the authorities are going to use "stick" and impose political pressure upon this party and blackmail it", - he said. The politician is confident that the PAP will not make concessions to the regime, which came to power through murder of 10 innocent citizens.
Ter-Petrosyan also added that actually the Constitutional reforms are a barrier between the authoritarian regime and healthy political forces. "If nevertheless Sargsyan tries to perpetuate his power and insists on making constitutional reforms, in that case serious processes will happen in the country under the political pressure in autumn, as a result of which Sargsyan will become a grave-digger of his own criminal regime", - Ter-Petrosyan said. He said that in a certain sense political parties of Armenia should be grateful to the president for giving them a reason for absolute consolidation. "Any tyrant, irrespective of his strength, drops guard at a certain moment, which becomes fatal to him. As for Serzh Sargsyan, constitutional reforms may become fatal to him", - the politician said. "The constitutional reforms, in particular, their refusal, are the thread on which the future of Armenia and Karabakh hangs", the first president of Armenia said and added that the authorities should seriously deal with the Karabakh conflict settlement.
