From the poundage point of view, Azerbaijan is a more beneficial partner for us within the Customs Union than Armenia, Director of the Centre for European Integration Problems (Minsk), Yuri Shevtsov, said at today's press-conference in Yerevan.
To recall, as it was earlier informed, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko allegedly said that "it is necessary to take Azerbaijan's opinion into consideration in the matter of Armenia's joining the Customs Union" because of availability of an unsettled territorial conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Certainly, this mercantilism plays its part. However, against the background of availability of such a comprehensive decision adopted by the heads of our states, we should and will abide by the decision. So, Minsk will not conduct the policy that differs from the policy conducted by Moscow in the matter of Armenia's joining the Customs Union", - he said.
Saying that unification with Russia within the Customs Union is a civilized choice of Belarus, Shevtsov said that if Armenia joins the Customs Union and comes closer to Russia, it will also become a civilized ally of Belarus.
