Galust Sahakyan, Head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Faction, candidate for Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, has promised to observe the best traditions in the Parliament if elected Speaker. At the April 28 sitting, Sahakyan said that the matter concerns the new culture of mutual relations, attitude to any proposal, thorough discussions and analysis.
"It is necessary to enhance the role of the standing committees and to improve the lawmaking process", he said. He pointed out that the MPs should take an active part in the sittings and the daily work must also be done properly. Sahakyan stressed the importance of political debates at the plenary sessions.
He believes that a political fight has only one platform where all the forces are important actors and each actor's opinion should be taken into account. "To be in politics means to fight for better results. It is impossible to gain high results without criticism, analysis and dialogue. But I have always evaded enmity and intrigues", said Sahakyan.
To recall, today all the parliamentary forces, except the ruling RPA, decided to boycott the Counting Board's activities. As a result, the RPA cannot hold the election of the Speaker, which is scheduled for April 28.
