The funds allocated by the draft state budget 2015 for Armenia's defense are sufficient, but given the challenges faced by the country, the funding should be increased to enhance the security of the state borders, Koryun Nahapetyan, Head of the Armenian Parliamentary Commission for Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, said during the budget hearings in Parliament on Wednesday.
He stressed the need to create new military enterprises on the basis of both a joint capital and budget funds. He also emphasized the need to adopt a law on the military industrial complex of Armenia. Nahapetyan pointed out that it is necessary to solve the servicemen's social problems as soon as possible, to raise the contract servicemen's wages and to increase their number in the Armenian Armed Forces.
As regards Armenia's participation in international peacekeeping operations, he said that the republic will keep taking part in such programs because it enhances the republic's image in the international arena.
