A pilot training center will be opened in Nagorno-Karabakh, the head of Nagorno-Karabakh's Chief Civil Aviation Department Dmitry Adbashyan told ArmInfo on Friday.
He said that he is not satisfied with how Nagorno-Karabakh's pilots are trained. "They have little practice and are often unable to come to a right decision when necessary. The center will give them practical skills on a both paid and state-funded basis," Adbashyan said.
The Stepanakert airport was built in 1974 and has not been functioning since 1992. The new terminal of the airport was built in 2008 and is going to implement flight on the route Stepanakert-Yerevan-Stepanakert. However, the airport does not operate because of the threats of Azerbaijan to shoot down planes from Stepanakert.
Eduardo Eurnekian, Argentinean entrepreneur of Armenian origin, acquired a plane for the airport.
