"The recent rapprochement between Turkey and Russia coincide with Azerbaijan's interests and we welcome that," APA reports Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov as saying.
K. Khalafov said Turkey and Russia are neighbors of Azerbaijan and leading countries of the region, stressing that Azerbaijan has high confidence in both countries and from this point of view, the rapprochement between the two countries corresponds to Azerbaijan's interests".
Asked about impact of the Turkish-Russian rapprochement on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the deputy minister said Russia is a mediator in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and Turkey is Armenia's neighbor, which means that the rapprochement of the two countries may have a positive effect on the settlement of the conflict.
